Education

I grew up on Long Island in New York and attended Amityville Memorial High School. Here I played softball, was in the band (played flute and bassoon) and was an honor student. I graduated 8th in my class and later went on to attend Long Island University/CW Post. My courses included, but were not limited to Psychology, various courses in art mediums, art history and graphic design. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. I went on to further my education at CUNY Queens College where I enrolled in the Masters in Art Education program while working at a Photography gallery on the weekends and a Law Office during the week. Here, I obtained my New York State teaching certification certifying me to teacher Art K-12. However, during the duration of my student teaching I also taught Publications.

Experience

I have been an Art Certified teacher in the Maryland Montgomery County Public Schools since the 2005/2006 school year. I teach 9th-12th grade main stream, ESOL, IEP and 504 students on a daily basis. I lead our Student Government Association in planning Homecoming activities, pep rallies and an annual awareness project. In addition, i Coach Varsity Cheerleading for a HS division 1 team. I enjoy getting to know students on a one on one basis. This helps me identify specific student needs as well as instruct students in a way they will understand. It is important for educators to understand that not all students learn the same way. It takes a special teacher to be able to vary instruction so that all students are successful.

Hobbies

My husband and I enjoy travel and have been to the Caribbean and across the country. We enjoy being able to jump in the car and enjoying a weekend away. Although, these weekends away are an enjoyment of ours, we equally enjoy evenings at home with friends and family playing games or just talking and laughing and being silly.
